How the body creates – insights on creativity from a dancer. (The World Of Creativity. Episode 43.)

In this episode I go to Barcelona and meet with professional Flamenco dancer and teacher Lucero Cardenas to learn about how creativity is connected to the whole body.

Here is the whole poem she made up on the fly as she was dancing:

All right.
Dance is the heartbeat of life,
It’s always present.
And sometimes it’s slower.
Sometimes it’s silent.
It makes you feel your whole body.
It makes you discover new movements.
New sensations.
It puts you in places you’ve never been before.
You can work your strength.
Your greatness.
Your confidence.
The unexpected.
The surprises.
The feel of your body. Of your emotions.
Breathing in a different way.
Seeing with your body.
Feeling with your body.
Uniting all into one. Growing.
Flying.
Feeling, anger, joy.
Ignorance. Doubt. And certainty.
And being one with life, in a different way.
Playing. Laughing. Crying. Reaching your limits.
And getting out of here.
Flying.

Lucero Cardenas has been dancing for over 20 years. She has worked with top Flamenco companies: Las Cabales, Antonio Romero, Kejío and Jesús Cortés amongst others and runs one of the most successful Flamenco school in Barcelona.
