Know where to be creative by understanding tradition. (The World of Creativity Ep 44.)

Know where to be creative by understanding tradition. (The World of Creativity Ep 44.)

Lessons from a sushi master. (see shorter version here: https://youtu.be/xZfWjgHjmns)

Yoshi (a young sushi master) used to fight a lot with his father (an old sushi master) because Yoshi wanted to change everything and his father wanted to change nothing, but when Yoshi started to study the traditions of sushi making he better understood why some things where as they were and he could focus his creativity to challenge the things that best deserved to be improved. In this episode we get to learn from a family of sushi masters who have been running their sushi restaurant for 4 generations in a restaurant that is 110 (!) years old. A beautiful message about understanding tradition in order to understand what should be changed – and what should not. Be inspired by this inspiring – and creative – sushi master.
