For an outsider, it might look as my job is to be a ‘global keynote speaker’ (and I did speak in 19 countries in 2025 alone). But I define myself as ‘an author and speaker’. Notice that ‘author’ comes before ‘speaker’.
Being an author is what makes me do interviews, conduct research, develop my thoughts and insights. Could I do all of that without being an author? Yes, but by investing time and effort into structuring my research into a book, I find I also become a much better speaker.
Author is ‘the job behind the job’.
And for the next few weeks ‘author’ will be my main identity as I focus on getting the word out for my new book, ‘The World of Creativity – A journey across 37 countries to discover the secrets of creative minds’.
The work I have put in to research creativity around the world and in writing this book is what makes it possible for me to get booked as a keynote speaker.
It’s by being both author and speaker that I become ‘The Creativity Explorer’.
